Melsi Labi
Mr. Melsi Labi was born in Gjirokastra, on 11 March 1978. He graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology in History, to specialize later for Archaeology in United Kingdom. At the same time he is a candidate for the title Ph.D in the field of Archaeology at the Albanological Studies Center. He has held various management posts and is a member of several national committees. In 2008 he was director of the cultural center "Alexander Moisiu" in Durres. From the 2011-2013 Melsi Labi has held the post of General Director of Policy for Art in the former Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports. He is a member of the Standing Committee of Experts on the General Directorate of Archives, member of the State Commission of Museums, a member of the State Committee and Chairman of the Stamp Scientific Council of the National Historical Museum of Tirana. In May 2015, he was awarded the prize "Gratitude as a transmitter of culture and director of the National Historical Museum" by the Italian association Napoli Cultural Classic. He has participated in several archaeological excavation expeditions initiated by local and international projects in Butrint, Durres, Phoenicia, Lezha, Gjirokastra, Saranda and Tirana. From November 2013 he was elected director of the National Historical Museum of Albania. He is fluent in English, Italian, Greek and French.
