Research activities related to China are carried out jointly by China Center and the Confucius Institute

The China Center is a multidisciplinary cluster established in 2012. Its aim is to value the competence and knowledge matured during the course of the years by researchers from the University of Macerata, in various fields and sectors referring to the Chinese territory.  Law, economics, economic policy, and international business are only some examples of the subjects dealt with.

Strengthened by the tradition of Matteo Ricci (who was born in Macerata), the University of Macerata has been conducting studies, organising cultural events, conferences and meetings for years, as well as participating in European calls for application on typical themes of social sciences and humanities, which focus on China.  Special attention is reserved for companies supporting the establishment of internationalisation and global expansion strategies.

With the China Center, a complementary body with respect to the Confucius Institute, the many activities on China carried out by the University have come together and been organised within a system, creating an updated network that is constantly evolving.

Every year, in collaboration with the Confucius Institute, the China Center carries out two study and development meetings dedicated to current affairs themes.

European projects

The University of Macerata is recognised on an Italian and European level as a pole of excellence regarding research activities focused on China.  Proof of this is in certain European projects co-ordinated by UniMc and financed by the European Community within the framework of the VII Framework Programme and Horizon 2020.
