Expertise and projects – Research Unit 1, strategic line 1
Research associates from the University of Macerata and other Italian universities (Bari, Catanzaro, Bergamo, Pisa, Rome, Salerno) are working on the project, which will take place in collaboration with other European research associates. The research associates from Macerata have been doing research on the role of secondary social networks (in particular social promotion associations and volunteer associations for the elderly) as a factor that is potentially capable of integrating / compensating the role of primary social networks (firstly family and relations) within the life of the elderly. Therefore, on how and to what extent membership of secondary social networks may influence the course of life, health trajectories and treatment choices of the elderly.
